I don’t know about you but my hair has thinned out so much over the years. I used to have such thick hair and then I noticed a slow progression of hair loss. After doing a ton of research I found out there are really no products out there that can make your hair grow longer or thicker but there are few products I have researched and even used that can slow down hair loss. Here are the top 5 products for thinning hair.
Causes Of Hair Loss
There are many reasons for thinning hair and hair loss. There are differences between women and men. This post will focus on thinning hair in women. Some causes for thinning hair are diet, age, hair styling and dyeing or bleaching your hair. Many reasons are due to health issues so always make sure to check in with your health care professional routinely. The styling tools you use could be harming your hair if you don’t protect it. I use this easy spray to protect from my heat styling tools. Products such as shampoo and conditioner may actually be harming your hair.
Hair Vitamins
Supplements for hair, skin, and nails are one way to slow down hair loss. There are many brands on the market the best one I found was “> Dr Lessmans Hair Skin and Nails supplement. Its affordable and has been on the market for years. You can get it here on Amazon. I’ve been using this for a few months in my daily routine and have noticed my hair loss has slowed down considerably. Finding a supplement that contains biotin is important. “>Nutrafol and “>Viviscal are options as well.
Scalp Scrub
This was a surprise for me. I routinely exfoliate my skin but I never thought about my scalp. Exfoliating your scalp is important to clear out the hair follicles. I do this once per week and I find it to be soothing and my hair feels amazing afterward. There are a few great brands out there I use “>Loreal Paris Everpure Exfoliating Scalp Care. I love the fresh scent and it makes my scalp a bit tingly which feels great. The trick to using any scalp exfoliator is to rub it into your scalp with your head dry before you shower and leave it on for about 30 minutes with your head wrapped. Then rinse and shampoo and condition like you usually would.
Shampoo & Conditioner
The type of shampoo and conditioner you use is important to slowing down hair loss. I’ve noticed adding the “>Aveda Invati line to my hair care routine has significantly reduced my hair loss. It includes a shampoo, conditioner, and the very important scalp serum. This line is quite expensive so I found a generic version that works just as well at Sally Beauty Supplies store which is linked here. Using a shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate free is key to healthy hair. I used to just use whatever I found in the drugstores and you definitely get what you pay for.
Topical
Of course you could go to a dermatologist or hair care specialist for thinning hair and there’s a few prescription strength topical you could try. There’s also topical such as Minoxidil or Rogaine you could get over the counter. They have a version for men and women so be sure to check you get the right one for you. These work by promoting hair growth through the shedding of old hairs and replacing them with new stronger strands. The “> Minoxidil comes as a serum with a dropper you apply to your scalp. “>Rogaine for women usually comes as a foam you apply to the scalp. Make sure you follow the directions.
Hair Masks
In my skin care routine I use a mask once or twice per week. You can also use a “>hair mask the same way. The “> Aveda line also carries a hair mask and I’ve listed a few more here. Applying this once or twice per week, leaving it on for 30 minutes then rinsing will help to nourish your hair and keep it soft and supple.
Conclusion
You can’t really make hair grow faster but there are ways to slow the hair loss and thinning. After incorporating each one of these items into my regular hair care routine there’s really no hair left in the drain after I shower and my hair is stronger and healthier. This doesn’t happen overnight so be patient and give it time. Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these methods and if you have any tips and tricks. As always if you’re having a health issue make sure to follow up with a medical professional.
